Role Purpose
The Corporate Materials Manager provides enterprise-level leadership, governance, and enablement for Materials Planning & Logistics (MP&L) across assigned plants and business units. This role governs standards, systems, and performance expectations, ensuring consistent materials planning, inventory control, and customer service outcomes. The position partners with plant MP&L leaders but does not own day-to-day execution.
Key Responsibilities
Corporate MP&L (Accountable)

Govern enterprise MP&L policies, standards, and best practices for portfolio of plants.

Own MP&L process design, system governance, and ERP standards; ensure data integrity and consistent use across plants.

Lead enterprise initiatives including ERP improvements, inventory optimization, warehouse management, regional/business unit capacity management, and customer scorecards.

Review MP&L performance at a portfolio level and drive corrective actions for systemic issues.

Establish expectations for supplier scheduling, freight, logistics, and offsite warehouse strategies for portfolio plants.

Develop MP&L capability through training frameworks, standard work, and functional talent development.
Plant MP&L (Influence & Support)

Provide functional leadership, coaching, and escalation support to plant MP&L teams.

Support plants with complex material constraints, supplier disruptions, capacity challenges, program transfers, and new customer launches.

Assist with selection, onboarding, and development of plant MP&L personnel.

Audit plant adherence to MP&L standards and support continuous improvement plans.
Cross-Functional & Financial Alignment

Partner with Operations, Sales, Finance, and IT to align material strategies with production plans, customer commitments, and financial objectives.

Provide governance and guidance for inventory reporting, materials-related controls, and month-end close processes.

Serve as a core member of the Corporate Materials / OPEX leadership community.
Qualifications
Bilingual – English & Spanish.
Ability to travel internationally (minimum 25%).
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics, business, or related field, or equivalent experience.
5+ years of progressive experience in MP&L operations within an automotive manufacturing environment.
Strong expertise in MP&L processes, ERP system functions, MS Excel.
APICS certification preferred.
