The Operations Manager will report directly to the Plant Manager.  The Operations Manager will be responsible for Production, Maintenance, Tooling and Lean Manufacturing.  The Operations Manager’s direct reports will be the Tooling Manager, Plant Engineer Manager, Manufacturing Engineer and Production Supervisors.

Responsibilities and Activities include:

 

Manages production through first-line schedules and projects production and manpower to effectively utilize manpower.

Ensure production schedules and quality requirements are met.

Ensure that we operate in compliance with the Collective Agreement and manage the employee issues when required.

Provides guidance to direct manufacturing process plan, including personnel requirements, production, Maintenance and Tooling requirements.

Oversees and enforces safety and health regulations in the Production, Maintenance and Tooling departments

Responsible for budgeting for Production, Maintenance and Tooling and Lean Manufacturing with the assistance of the Controller.

Maintains collective agreement, IATF requirements including implementation of WOL standards and provides action plans to ensure proper implementation for areas of responsibilities.

Work directly with maintenance and tooling to ensure PM programs are managed.

Lean Leader for areas under his/her responsibility – engages the teams to implement our WPS in their respective areas, ensuring execution with the assistance of the Manufacturing Engineer.

Preferred Qualifications include:

 

Minimum Qualifications, Formal Education, Certification or Equivalent

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business or equivalent in experience.

 

Working Experience – Nature and Length

  • 5-10 years of Manufacturing Experience with Managerial experience.
  • Strong demonstration of management skills, JIT process-based manufacturing, automotive industry experience, cost management, material/logistics, forecasting/planning, problem solving, conflict resolution, quality management, strong customer relationship building
  • Experience with IATF audit processes and Safety Audits

Additional Qualifications – Technical or Functional Competency Requirements

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Lean Manufacturing training would be an asset.
