Role Purpose:
The Vice President, Purchasing is responsible for shaping and executing a global procurement strategy that delivers measurable value across cost, quality, delivery, innovation, and sustainability. This role will lead a team of procurement professionals dedicated to a transformational approach that is agile and data-driven. By building a unified global team, fostering strategic supplier partnerships, and embedding best-in-class practices, the VP will ensure that purchasing not only supports but actively drives the company’s growth, profitability, and competitive advantage. As a key member of the global leadership team, the VP will influence enterprise-wide strategy, strengthen risk resilience, and champion a culture of performance, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the global supply chain.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead all aspects of global purchasing strategy, execution, and governance across direct and indirect categories, managing a $1B+ annual spend.
- Drive transformation of the procurement function—modernizing systems, processes, and team structure to support a more agile, strategic, and value-driven organization.
- Build a unified global procurement team by aligning and optimizing existing regional resources across the globe and selectively recruiting new talent to support future growth.
- Partner with senior leadership and cross-functional teams (engineering, operations, finance, sales) to ensure purchasing supports broader business objectives.
- Identify and develop strategic supplier relationships to improve cost, quality, delivery, and innovation.
- Champion the use of data, analytics, and digital tools to elevate procurement performance and transparency.
- Establish strong supplier performance management and continuous improvement frameworks.
- Ensure compliance with OEM requirements, industry standards, and corporate policies.
- Deliver year-over-year procurement cost optimization targets while improving supplier performance metrics.
- Lead risk management strategies to mitigate supply chain disruptions and geopolitical uncertainties, ensuring business continuity
Minimum Qualifications, Formal Education, Certification or Equivalent
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Engineering, or a related field is required.
Key candidate experience includes:
- Able to manage complex, high-value, high-volume procurement portfolios at a global scale, particularly in chemical-intensive or automotive manufacturing environments.
- Ability to develop and execute long-term sourcing strategies that align with overall business objectives.
- Proven experience in modernizing procurement functions through digital tools, process innovation, and enterprise-wide change management.
- Strong, data-driven, analytical skills to evaluate supplier performance, optimize cost, and support strategic decision-making.
- Deep understanding of supplier quality assurance, compliance, and continuous improvement in global supply chains.
- Able to play a critical role on the global leadership team, shaping the future of procurement and supply performance across the organization.
