Position Summary

Work with all functional areas to drive the business. Understand the plant metrics, the business plan to meet all areas within the metrics and how and when to react to correct or improve performance in the plant. This is a union plant, so experience in collaborative and effective labor relations is required.

Job Responsibility

  • The Plant Manager is the Lean Leader for the facility.
  • This position is responsible for the profitable management of multiple customers in a JIT manner maintaining world class quality and customers relationships while maintaining all safety requirements.
  • Lead and direct a workforce of hourly and salaried employees through a management team and manage the supply base while minimizing inventory.
  • Work with customer/partner in developing manufacturing strategy, planning, cost reductions, and business planning.
  • Employ best methods to include Woodbridge Production System (WPS), Best In Class (BIC) and Continuous Improvement management strategies to achieve goals, continuously improve systems, processes, and develop team members.
  • Maintain budgeted or better than budgeted profitability for Business Unit in areas of capital projects, production processes, product margins.
  • Work closely with plant and business unit financial teams  for analysis, budgeting and forecasting for the plant.
  • Establishes appropriate communications and/or meetings to help facilitate plant objectives and goals.
  • Play an essential role in the health & safety and quality audit processes.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or Commerce.
  • Eight to ten years progressive related experience at a senior management level or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience to perform the requirements of the position.
  • Strongly demonstrated general management skills including team building, JIT process-based manufacturing, automotive industry experience, cost management, material/logistics, forecasting and planning, problem solving, conflict resolution, quality management, strong customer relationship background and attitude.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation including Health and Safety & Environment and Employment, Labor and Industrial Relations, accounting principles and supply contract administration.
  • In depth knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, 5S, Kaizen, problem solving methodologies.
