Toyota Kanban
Department: Materials
Reports To: Mfg Supervisor
Location: Kitchener, ON
Employment Type: Full-Time, Unionized $22.25/hour starting rate with progression to $28.45/hour
Position Summary
We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented, and safety-focused Toyota Kanban Coordinator to join our Materials team. This role is responsible for coordinating customer orders, picking and preparing materials, maintaining inventory accuracy, and ensuring shipments are processed efficiently to meet customer delivery requirements.
The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, possess strong organizational skills, and have a commitment to quality, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Print Bills of Lading and shipping documentation from the Shipping Office.
- Retrieve customer orders and production requirements from the Front Office.
- Sort orders by scheduled shipment time and prioritize work accordingly.
- Load and maintain Kanban preparation boards.
- Pick and verify the correct parts for customer orders.
- Organize and sort parts onto designated skids and apply appropriate labels.
- Notify the Materials Supervisor of inventory discrepancies, shortages, or potential customer delivery concerns.
- Wrap and prepare completed skids for shipment.
- Scan and verify labels to ensure inventory and shipping accuracy.
- Review shipping documents to confirm all paperwork matches shipped product.
- Complete all required paperwork and electronic records accurately and on time.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with 5S standards and company policies.
- Follow all quality, safety, and operational procedures.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the Materials Department.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn new software systems.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Basic math skills required for inventory management and order verification.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to follow standardized work instructions and established procedures.
- Ability to accurately complete paperwork and electronic documentation.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to frequently lift, carry, stack, and move totes, containers, and boxes throughout the shift.
- Ability to remain standing and walking for extended periods.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing and warehouse environment.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining accuracy and quality standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, logistics, materials, warehouse, or shipping environment.
- Experience with Kanban systems, inventory management, barcode scanning, or ERP systems.
- Familiarity with IATF 16949 / automotive manufacturing quality systems.
- Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification.
