JOB DESCRIPTION

 

 

JOB TITLE:                4th Class Power Engineer/Stationary Engineer

 SUPERVISION:       Reports directly to the Maintenance Manager or Shift Supervisor when the Maintenance Manager is not in the plant.

 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Maintain, operate, and perform maintenance repairs on 4th Class plant/energy center system.

 

As an active member of the Maintenance Team, general duties will be defined by the expectations of the Production Schedule and associated demands on the energy system.  

 

The following duties are general and meant to serve as a guide only.  Additional job duties and functions may be added as required.

 

  • Operates and services building/plant boilers, water softeners, chillers, condensate system, HVAC, automation systems, within TSSA code requirements.
  • Performs daily boiler chemical tests, calculates impurities, adds chemicals as necessary.
  • Maintains and repairs boilers. E.g. shut-down, boiler inspection, replace parts.
  • Maintains and services hot water systems. E.g. pumps, converters, heat reclamation system, piping.
  • Monitors and maintains pneumatic control system.
  • Monitors and responds to plant alarms.
  • Performs preventative maintenance tasks on all plant/energy equipment and systems.
  • Performs preventative maintenance tasks on other equipment where required.
  • Maintains logs and records as required.
  • Removes, installs, makes modification to machinery or equipment as required.
  • Operate and repair plant support machinery, boilers, softener, air compressors etc.
  • Maintain a safe and tidy work environment with regular housekeeping and use of PPE
  • Actively participate in training of apprentices and co-workers in gaining new skills
  • Actively participate in Continuous Improvement Program.
  • All other related duties as assigned.

 

 

 

 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Certified 4th Class Power Engineer Technician.
  • 3 to 5 years industrial manufacturing experience
  • Good basic mechanical knowledge and application of compressed air, hydraulics and pneumatics, basic electrical, welding, pumps and preventative maintenance.
  • Able to troubleshoot and problem solve effectively
  • Able to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Must be Team Player and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Certification for operating Lift Trucks and Aerial Lift equipment in a safe manner & able to pass medical evaluation based on provincial standard.
  • Able to work off shifts and overtime as required
