Maintenance Technician

Role Purpose:

This position is a multi-craft maintenance position. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Troubleshooting, repair and modifications to existing plant and facility equipment
    • Systems include mechanical, electrical (systems from 480 VAC to 24 VDC), hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyor systems, PLC and controls.
  • Installation of new equipment.
  • perform chemical handling for the facility (backup for chemical handler).

 

Responsibilities:

  • Must obtain a forklift license.
  • Must become a member of Emergency response team (ERT) and attend training sessions.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot and repair plant and facility equipment.
  • Must be able to document information regarding the repair into a computer program including steps taken and parts used.
  • Complete machine Preventative Maintenance Program duties as scheduled
  • Follow all safety policies and working practices.
  • Maintain documentation of technical reference material
  • This position requires frequent daily and/or weekend overtime. Fill in during vacation days / personal days. This position could be on any shift.
  • Perform all other duties and tasks as identified by facility leadership.

 

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or 2 years experience in a manufacturing facility. A combination of both will also be considered.
  • Desired technical school certificate of completion or trade school certificate
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret schematics, mechanical drawings, hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams, and blueprints.
  • Must be able to read and follow technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Must be able to write technical documentation regarding troubleshooting and repair of equipment as well as standard procedures for safety and general work on the equipment.
  • Must be able to effectively present information to company leadership.
  • Welding, machining, and fabrication experience is desired.
  • Must have experience using hand tools and diagnostic tools for troubleshooting and repair of the equipment.
  • Must follow all safety regulations. OSHA and NFPA code knowledge is desired.
  • Must maintain a good attendance record.
  • Self-starter, with demonstrated continuous improvement traits; effective at working independently.
  • Perform tasks through to completion.
  • Be mechanically inclined, plumbing, pneumatics.
  • Must understand safe chemical handling and be able to perform the chemical handler position when required.
  • Must understand and be able to participate on the emergency chemical spill team, or other emergency response teams.
