SUMMARY:

Overall this position has full responsibility to ensure that customer requirements, corporate and Quality Systems are properly understood and implement in our organization. This position also held the Management Responsibility and Voice of the Customer duties for the Quality System that our organization is registered to. The Quality Assurance Department reports to this position.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Follow all general safety regulations and use provided safety equipment as required. See JSA & PDA for this position for details safety instructions.
  • Understand ISO 9001 requirements / Olympic Quality Policy. Always follow work instructions and procedures as established through Olympic Quality Policy.
  • Must have working knowledge of SPC, Root Cause Analysis, 8D and PPAP .
  • Lead and promote process variation reduction activities. 
  • Lead product performance improvement by identifying and reducing product and process variation.
  • Work closely with internal and external customers as well as suppliers to resolve product performance issues.
  • Develop, apply and implement Statistical Methods as required.
  • Provide leadership in the use and application of quality procedures and processes in the conformance to ISO 9000 or TS 16949 requirements.
  • Supervise quality activities and personnel.
  • Coach and mentor staff to achieve continuous improvement through variation reduction.
  • Any other duties as assigned by plant manager.  

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises employees in the Quality Assurance Department.  Carries out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

Bachelors degree in Applied Statistics or Engineering with 3-5 years of process experience in an automotive manufacturing environment at a managerial level. 

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents and training materials such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills are required.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; and vibration.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

 

WORK SCHEDULE:

Standard work hours will consist of eight hours per day, five days per week on an assigned shift.

 

Schedule hours may be altered as required by business conditions. This may be more (or less) than eight hours per day or five days per week. An ability to work overtime or irregular hours to include Saturdays, Sundays and holidays is essential for this position.

 

EQUIPMENT USED:

While performing the job in this position, the employee will be occasionally using a tape measure, a dial thickness gage and any other tool required by a specific assignment.
