POURLINE OPERATOR
Summary
This is a manufacturing operation position in a chemical conversion environment
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The duties of the Pourline operator include, but are not limited to the following:
- Maintain good housekeeping in the department by 5S standards.
- After training, participate as a member of the chemical emergency response team.
- Maintain toxic gas monitors
- Labeling of chemical containers to ensure compliance to safety and environmental regulations.
- Perform Chemical handling activities of hazardous and non hazardous materials. This includes unloading from rail cars and tank trucks, handing totes (IBC) and drums.
- Operate and perform routine maintenance of cutting equipment.
- Operating a fork lift to move pallets and drums safely within the plant.
- Set up machinery in preparation of production runs
- Load and unload blocks of foam from a production conveyor by hand
- Perform a variety of routine maintenance on chemical systems such as mixing equipment, filters, pumps.
- Accurately measure block dimensions
- Monitor production variables and ensure the variables fall within an acceptable range.
- This position may be required to work daily and/or week end overtime
Qualifications
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence& memos and able to write simple correspondence. Ability to use a tape measure and convert to and from Metric to Imperial Standard
- Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
- Basic computer skills (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
- Mechanical/ skilled trade experience preferred
Education / Experience
- Minimum
- Good communication skills, verbal and written.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents and training materials such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions as well as procedure manuals. Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills are required.
Mathematical Skills
Basic math skills required to include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of numbers, decimal and fractions.
Reasoning Ability
A successful employee would have the capability to decide the safest and most cost-effective manner to perform daily activities and have the understanding to ask for help or direction on any said function that he or she isn’t completely sure of. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Equipment Used
Employee will be issued a tear-away safety vest, safety glasses, cut-resistant gloves, a utility knife and a tape measure. These are required equipment for the cutline operator. Other equipment for tasks associated with the cutline will be available at the workstations or can be provided by the shift leads or supervisors.
ATTENDANCE / Work Schedule
Standard work hours will consist of eight hours per day, five days per week on an assigned shift.
Schedule hours may be altered as required by business conditions. This may be more (or less) than eight hours per day or five days per week. An ability to work overtime or irregular hours to include Saturdays, Sundays and holidays is essential for this position.
1st Shift: 6:00am – 2:30pm
Split Shift: 10:00am – 6:30pm
