Mechanical Engineer


Develop, design, and implement mechanical solutions including but not limited to Piping Design, Mechanical Equipment, Hydraulic motion, Conveyors and Electrical Drive lines. Direct and coordinate mechanical engineering and manufacturing services as required.  Develop project documentation including specifications, 3D CAD models, 2D drawings.

  • Very experienced in mechanical design and an understanding Machinery design best practice.
  • Proven successful project management and excellent organization when tracking projects.
  • Willingness to work on all projects to closure and make the team successful no matter what it takes.

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Provide direct support to vendors & suppliers, the factory, to ensure production schedules are met, resolve anomalies, and streamline operations to improve efficiency.
  • Support of Mechanical Structures sub-system and component designs, related testing, and production support.
  • Develops design improvements that reduce cost and risk and/or improve performance and/or reliability.
  • Ability to develop effective designs and solutions quickly and efficiently.
  • Ability to read and understand pneumatic and electrical schematics.
  • Can work independently or collaboratively as required.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.
  • Must demonstrate competence in mechanical assembly and fabrication techniques.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with vendors, co-workers, and customers.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Industrial Machinery.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Follow all general safety regulations and use the provided safety equipment as required. See JSA & PDA for this position for detailed safety instructions.
  • Always follow work instructions and procedures as established through Chattanooga WITP Quality Policy.
  • Utilize CAD software to create Product Machinery parts or revisions to existing machinery or systems.
  • Maintains QS documents concerning manufacturing processes.
  • Respond to vendor inquiries about products and quality concerns.
  • Create solutions to manufacturing problems.
  • Assist in pricing quotes for new products.
  • Training operators as necessary on products, processes.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism.

(formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

WORK SCHEDULE:

Standard work hours will consist of eight hours per day, five days per week on an assigned shift.

Schedule hours may be altered as required by business conditions. This may be more (or less) than eight hours per day or five days per week. An ability to work overtime or irregular hours to include Saturdays, Sundays and holidays is essential for this position.
